Locations and Dates

At least two Retreats are held each year in June in Denver, Colorado. Other Retreats may be held throughout the year at universities, but they are open only to students and faculty members at the sponsoring institutions.

The Retreats in Denver are held in apartment suites on the campus of Colorado Christian University at 180 S. Garrison Street in Lakewood, Colorado. The Retreat rents four suites in the complex, with three rooms to each suite. Each suite contains a kitchen, living room, dining room, two bathrooms, and a washing machine and dryer. The apartments are air conditioned.

Getting to the Retreat Site

From Denver International Airport

Shuttle

To catch a shuttle, go to the shuttle counters in the main terminal area of the airport after you have your luggage (the shuttle counters are not too far from the baggage claim area and are next to the fountain in the main terminal area).

The Super Shuttle costs $33.00, and you probably won’t have to wait more than 20-30 minutes for a shuttle to leave. The phone number for Super Shuttle is 303-370-1300 (and you must dial all 10 digits within Denver).

You do not need to have made advance reservations for the shuttle. Just go to the counter when you get in, and you will be put on the next available shuttle. You must have your luggage before you go to the shuttle desk. You will be told if some participants are arriving at the same time so that you can take a shuttle to the Retreat site together.

Ask the shuttle driver to take you to Colorado Christian University (the address is 180 S. Garrison Street, Lakewood, CO 80226). Participants will be notified of the name and location of the apartment suites in which the Retreat is located.

Taxi

A second option for getting to the Retreat from the airport is by taxi, which will cost you somewhere between $65 and $75. There usually are several cabs waiting right outside of the baggage claim area, but, if not, the phone number for Yellow Cab is 303-777-7777 (you must dial all 10 digits of a local phone number in Denver).

Bus

There is a bus that can take you from the airport to a stop not far from campus. If you want to take the bus, here’s what to do: Go out the east side of the terminal on level 6. Go out door 613 and find where the RTD buses come in Take an AF bus to the Cold Spring Park and Ride (check with the driver to be sure the bus you are boarding goes to this Park and Ride). You won’t have to transfer to get here--the bus will make several stops, but you won’t have to get off until you get to the Cold Spring Park and Ride. The cost is $10.00, and you must have exact change. You can call us from the Park and Ride, and we will come pick you up: 1-816-294-5258 or 1-303-241-0618.

At the Cold Spring Park and Ride, you can transfer to another bus that will put you a few blocks from campus, and we also can come pick you up there. If you want to do this, ask for a transfer when you board the bus at the airport--transfers are free, but you must ask for the transfer when you first board. Take bus #3 east. Ask the driver to let you off on Alameda as close to Garrison Street as possible. You won’t have to go very far on this bus. Then call us when you get to that bus stop, and we’ll pick you up.

Driving

(Approaching from the North or South)

Traveling on I-25, take Exit 209B, 6th Avenue West. Continue on 6th Avenue to Garrison Street. You will turn onto a frontage road that will come to Garrison. Turn south or left on Garrison Street, continue approximately one mile to Alameda Avenue, and turn left. Turn left into the campus when you see the sign that says “Colorado Christian University.”

Traveling eastbound on I-70, take the 6th Avenue exit in Golden. Continue east on 6th Avenue, then turn south onto Garrison Street. Continue approximately one mile and turn left on Alameda Avenue. Turn left into the campus when you see the sign that says “Colorado Christian University.”

(Approaching from the East)

Traveling westbound on I-70, turn south on I-25. Take Exit 209B, 6th Avenue West. Continue on 6th Avenue to Garrison Street. You will turn onto a frontage road that will come to Garrison. Turn south or left on Garrison Street, continue approximately one mile to Alameda Avenue and turn left. Turn left into the campus when you see the sign that says “Colorado Christian University.”
